Arcadia, Ca
Arcadia, a city in Los Angeles County, California, lies 13 miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles. It’s nestled in the San Gabriel Valley, with the San Gabriel Mountains at its base. Notable features include Santa Anita Park, the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden, and Arcadia County Park.
The Westfield Santa Anita mall, formerly known as the Santa Anita Fashion Park, serves as a major shopping hub. Its 2005 expansion introduced a new food court, Sport Chalet (now closed), Dave & Busters, smaller retailers, and a 16-screen AMC Theatres megaplex. In 2008, the mall grew further with the completion of the Promenade outdoor structure, welcoming high-end retailers like Coach and Talbots.
San Marino, Ca
San Marino, originally inhabited by the Tongva Indians, now hosts the Huntington School. The land was once part of the San Gabriel Mission. In 1838, a Mexican land grant of 128 acres went to Victoria Bartolmea Reid, a Gabrieleña Indian. After her first husband’s death, she remarried Scotsman Hugo Reid. The property, known as Rancho Huerta de Cuati, changed hands over the years. In 1873, James DeBarth Shorb, son-in-law of Don Benito Wilson, named it “San Marino” after his Maryland plantation, which, in turn, was named after the Republic of San Marino in Europe.

La Cañada Flintridge, Ca
Mountains within Los Angeles County, California. Positioned in the Crescenta Valley, on the western edge of Southern California’s San Gabriel Valley, it serves as the home of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
The city lies between the San Gabriel Mountains and the Angeles National Forest to the north, with the San Rafael Hills to the south. While most of the city’s drainage flows southeastward toward the Arroyo Seco area in Pasadena, the western portion (generally west of Alta Canyada Road) drains southward via Verdugo Canyon, eventually joining the Los Angeles River north of downtown Los Angeles. The landscape comprises the Angeles Crest, the San Rafaels, and the central canyon .
